Under the aegis of DIOS, GB Nagar, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Week – the daughters of New India was celebrated from 9-14 Oct,2017 with zing and fervor. Oct.11, 2017 was celebrated as the International Girl Child Day. Enabling the education of the girl child to lead a New India was the motto of the celebration.
A poster making competition was held for classes VI-VIII in the school premises on Oct.10, 2017 on the theme of “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao”.
A tree plantation drive was organized in the school premises on Oct.11, 2017 during the celebration of “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” week. A sapling was planted by the Principal Mrs.D. Kaur, Coordinators of Senior & Middle School and Council Members to spread the message of nurturing our girl child in the same way as we nurture a sapling. Principal Mrs.D. Kaur emphasized the boys of the Student Council to water the plant and sensitized them to care about the well-being of female members of their family.
A door to door campaign was conducted on Oct.12, 2017 for sensitizing the students about the schemes and programmes run by the Ministry of Women & Child Welfare. Students of Class XI & XII familiarized the classes about the schemes. They used slogans and posters to highlight their point.
A talk was conducted in the school assembly on Oct.13, 2017 on Women Health & Nutrition and the importance of maintaining the good health of the homemaker.
Students of class IX also took an oath on female empowerment during the closing ceremony of the celebration on Oct.14, 2017.
