SPIC MACAY – ODISSI DANCE WORKSHOP

Renowned Odissi dancer Padmashree Ranjana Gauhar accompanied by Shri Pradeep Moharana on Mardal. Shri Saroj Mohanty as a Vocalist and her disciple from West Indies, Vinod Kevin Bachan conducted a captivating odissi dance workshop at The Khaitan School auditorium. Ranjanaji started her interactive session by explaining how there was rhythm all around in nature and our inner self. She explained that dance was an expression of our inner joy and happiness. Ma’am took the audience through the origin and revival of Odissi dance. She started her dance workshop with Manglacharan, an offering of prayers to Lord Ganesha. Thereafter her disciple Vinod performed a short piece of pure dance form. Ranjanaji mesmerized the audience with yet another pure dance composition called “Pallavi” based on raag Saveri. She culminated her workshop with an expression dance of 12th century. ‘Shri Geet Govindam’ written by Shri Jaidev, depicting the love of Radha and Krishna. Her oratory skills engrossed and gripped the audience. Principal, Mrs. D. Kaur welcomed the artist and complimented the artist for brilliant, interactive and educational session.
