The Khaitan School hosted a team of fifteen French students and two teachers from SMB School, Bordeaux, France under the foreign exchange programme from 28th December 2017 to 10th January, 2018.The gracious Indian families of the students of The Khaitan School performed the duties of perfect hosts to the contingent. The delegates arrived at the school on 29th December, 2017 in the morning hours and were welcomed with tika and garlands. They were then guided to the AV room where the ceremonial lighting of lamp was done. This was followed by an Introduction session. Principal, Mrs D Kaur, welcomed the delegation and it was followed by a Cultural program performed by the students of the school.Principal, Mrs D Kaur, emphasised on the importance of such exchange programmes which help in better understanding of culture, religion and customs along with students networking across the globe.The delegation was then taken for a school tour wherein they visited the pre-primary, primary and senior wing. The delegates observed the classes and then proceeded for high tea.
The next day, 30th January, 2018 was a day for the delegates to spend quality time with their respective Indian host families and learn about Indian culture, customs and traditions. The school had organised a New Year lunch programme on the 31st December which was enjoyed by the delegates and the hosts. The next day was spent by the delegates with their respective host families.Delhi Darshan was organised on 2nd January in which the delegates visited The Lotus temple, Qutub Minar followed by Lunch in Eatopia, IHC. After lunch the members went on a shopping spree at Delhi Haat followed by the visit to the illuminated India Gate and finally the Light and sound programme at Old Fort. On 3rd January, the delegates were taken to Raj Ghat, Rastrapati Bhawan followed by shopping at Janpath and finally lunch at Barbeque Nation.On 4th of January the delegates visited the Taj Mahal, Agra they were enthralled with its majestic beauty . After the visit they had lunch at Pind Balluchi and then left for Noida. The 5TH of January was a day to relax as they had to gear up for the upcoming journey and adventures. The next morning, the delegates left for Jim Corbett National Park where they enjoyed various activities like ice breaking, Lantern walk in forest, live music and DJ night. On 7th January, the delegates went for morning trek in the park followed by outdoor activities. They also saw Corbett museum and GirjaDevi temple. A folk dance was performed for them by a local group at the resort. The group left for Naukuchia Taal on 8th January where they enjoyed the scenic beauty of the lake resort. On the way back to Noida on 9th January,they visited an Indian Village to observe the lifestyle of Indian farmers.The student exchange program culminated with the farewell to the French Contingent organised on 10th January 2018 at The Khaitan School. The event started with ceremonial lighting of the lamp which was followed by experience sharing by the French students and teachers about their stay and interactions with students and parents. This was followed by an exclusive dance performance and recitation of shloka by the French students. A song and Ghumar dance were presented by TKS students who also shared their memorable experiences of the visit of French delegation.
