“Trees are the kindest things we grow”. This has been rightly said as the needs of all the living beings are fulfilled by them. However their depleting number has become a serious issue. To make students aware of this issue and taking initiative towards it, the students of Nilgiri House conducted a special assembly on Van Mahotsava on 20th July, 2017 in the school auditorium.
Shaurya of class II-C started the assembly with an insightful thought on environment. Saanvi Sharma of class IV-A, updated the students with news followed by an informative talk by Devanshi Grag of class V-E. She threw light on the importance of trees in our lives.
The students of Nilgiri House enacted a street play (Nukkad Natak) wherein the audience was made aware of the importance of planting trees. The assembly ended on a note of joy and energy with a riveting dance performance by the students to showcase importance of rain in preserving flora. The enthralling dance sequence made the atmosphere lively and vibrant. The principal, Mrs. D. kaur, complimented the efforts put in by the teachers and students. She also encouraged the students to preserve trees which play a vital role in maintaining the ecological balance. The Headmistress, Mrs. S. Khurana added that it was the responsibility of each citizen to not only grow but also take care of trees.
