Celebrating Mahatma Gandhi’s 154th Birth Anniversary

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

On October 3rd, 2023, The Khaitan School in Noida came alive with a spirit of reverence and admiration as it commemorated the 154th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. In honor of this momentous occasion, the school organized a series of engaging student activities spanning from Nursery to Grade VIII. These activities were designed not only to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti but also to impart the timeless wisdom of Gandhian philosophy and ideas.

Classroom Tributes

 

The day began with class teachers speaking about the significance of October 2nd, Gandhi Jayanti, and its importance in our nation’s history. In a touching tribute, they also played Gandhi ji’s favorite bhajan, “Vaishnavjanato,” in all classrooms, creating a serene atmosphere that resonated with the ideals of peace and non-violence.

 

 

 

Educational Enrichment

 

To provide students with a deeper understanding of Mahatma Gandhi’s life and philosophy, a short video presentation was shared across all grades. Following the screening, discussions were held in classrooms, allowing students to explore Gandhian principles, values, and ideas. These discussions aimed to inspire a sense of reflection and appreciation for the Father of the Nation’s contributions.

 

Engaging the Social Sciences

The Social Science department played a pivotal role in observing this special day. They designed dedicated activities for students to delve into essential aspects of Gandhi’s legacy. Each grade was assigned a specific topic aligned with Gandhian ideals:

 

  • 1. Grade VI – Non-Violence

  • 2. Grade VII – Khadi

  • 3. Grade VIII – Sarvodaya (the welfare of all)

Preparation and Participation

To ensure students were well-prepared and knowledgeable about their assigned topics, the Social Science department utilized Google Classroom as a platform for research and self-observation. Students were encouraged to explore the life and work of Mahatma Gandhi, with the aim of gaining a profound understanding of their respective topics.

In-Class Activities

 

Classroom activities were conducted with great enthusiasm and active participation from the students. Each class was divided into small groups, comprising 4-5 students, facilitating engaging discussions on the assigned topics. These discussions incorporated multimedia elements such as videos and class discussions, enhancing the learning experience.

Creative Expression

The commemorations reached their zenith as students engaged in various creative activities related to Gandhi’s principles. Role plays, poster-making, and verbal presentations were organized by students from Grades VI, VII, and VIII, respectively. Through these activities, students not only showcased their creativity but also deepened their understanding and appreciation of Gandhism.

A Tribute to Gandhism

 

The culmination of these activities was a heartfelt tribute to Gandhism, as students wholeheartedly participated, showcasing their appreciation for the ideals and values that Mahatma Gandhi stood for. It was a day filled with reflection, learning, and a renewed commitment to the principles of truth, non-violence, and social welfare.
