Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, also known as National Unity Day, is a significant occasion in the Indian calendar, commemorating the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India. On this special day, The Khaitan School came together with great enthusiasm and pride to celebrate the remarkable contribution of Sardar Patel in unifying India post-independence from British rule.

The day was marked with various activities that aimed to not only remember Sardar Patel’s legacy but also instill a sense of unity, integrity, and patriotism among the students. The activities included:
Integrity Pledge and Speech: The day started with an Integrity Pledge, where students from all classes gathered in their respective classrooms. After taking the pledge, students were encouraged to deliver one-minute speeches on ‘The contribution of Sardar Patel in the Union of India.’ This allowed students to research and present their thoughts on the great leader’s instrumental role in uniting the diverse princely states of India. The classroom discussions were not only informative but also inspiring, as students acknowledged Sardar Patel’s incredible efforts.
Unity Run and Pledge: Following the Integrity Pledge and speeches, the spirit of unity was further reinforced with a Unity Run. Students, along with council leaders, came together with placards and banners to emphasize the significance of unity and the legacy of Sardar Patel. The Unity Run commenced beside the canteen and continued on the school grounds, creating a visual representation of the unity that the Iron Man of India advocated for.
The activities were carried out during the Circle Time and the Continuous Testing (CT) Period, allowing students to participate and engage actively in these memorable celebrations. The morning at The Khaitan School was filled with a sense of unity, pride, and shared history as students, teachers, and staff came together to honor Sardar Patel’s legacy.
The aim of these activities was to create awareness about Sardar Patel’s significant role in the unification of India’s diverse princely states after gaining independence from British rule. His relentless efforts and strong leadership were instrumental in shaping modern India, and on his birth anniversary, it was imperative to acknowledge and celebrate his legacy.
By remembering Sardar Patel and his remarkable contributions, The Khaitan School not only paid tribute to a great leader but also inspired its students to cherish the unity and diversity that make India unique. Rashtriya Ekta Diwas was a moment to remember and celebrate the idea of ‘One India’ that Sardar Patel envisioned and brought to life, ensuring that his legacy lives on in the hearts and minds of the future generations.
