The Republic Day celebration at The Khaitan School is usually a melange of patriotic activities which creates an atmosphere of national pride throughout the premises of the school. However, this year, Covid-19 has restricted us to the online platform and added a twist to the 72nd Republic Day celebrations. So, the school decided to take the digital route to celebrate the day with the same fervor. The school organized a virtual Republic Day celebration on 26th January, 2021 and invited all the students and their parents for the commemoration that was streamed live. The event took place in each class and the students took pride in glorifying and celebrating the spirit of unity and brotherhood.
The celebrations began with the students engaged in watching the video “Salute to the Nation”. The facilitators highlighted the importance of the Constitution and its key features such as Sovereign, Socialist, Secular, Democratic and Republic enshrined in the Preamble. The students then enthusiastically participated in framing their own ’Class Constitution’ by discussing and writing the rules in it. This was followed by a conversation on the rights and duties that the students possess. Videos showing the Parade at India Gate lifted the spirits of the students which was followed by a workshop conducted by the student leaders on varied topics. The event was concluded with the National Anthem.
Everyone was enraptured in the spirit of patriotism and celebrated Republic Day with great enthusiasm. The occasion was celebrated following the ‘new normal’ norms and was a splendid opportunity to remember the martyrs and their sacrifices.
