Head of Junior School
“Extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures. We saw a need that needed to be filled, and we stepped in to help.”
On 8th April 2020, an Online Orientation programme for the parents of the new class IX students was held in two videoconference sessions. The first session was for class IX-A,B and C, and second was for classes IX D,E and F parents respectively. The very fact that both sessions were packed to capacity was itself a testimony to its success and overwhelming acceptance from the parents. The sessions were conducted by Senior coordinator Ms. Sheetal sawhney and an expert panel under the guidance and leadership of Education Director Mrs S L Gupta and school principal Mrs. Davinder Kaur.
The aim of the orientation was to share with the parents the new academic breakup (scholastic as well as co-scholastic), various events conducted in school, the different activities their children could participate in, introduction of the new class teachers and the subject teachers. Senior Coordinator Ms Sheetal Sawhney drew the attention of the parents towards the ongoing online classes initiated by the school. She pointed out that it not only did ensure academic continuity but also engaged the students constructively and meaningfully in these testing times. The session also had School Counselor talking about all the possible social-emotional-mental and behavioral changes that parents could observe/expect during the transitory stage of their children and how they could help them during this lockdown period.
The session ended with an open forum where parents could put up their queries to the panel of teachers present to answer. Overall despite being a new platform under difficult circumstances, the session went off smoothly. The parents appreciated the efforts the school management and faculty had put in to ensure the continuity in learning of the children. They were thankful to the school for coming up with learning and parenting solutions even in a complete lockdown situation with no immediate end in sight.
