Creativity knows no boundaries, and when it meets young minds brimming with ideas, the result is nothing short of extraordinary. The Khaitan School witnessed a vibrant display of creativity when 44 students from Class XII, along with Mrs. Vandana Datta, HOD Arts, had the opportunity to attend a stimulating workshop on Communication Design and Textile Design, organized by Pearl Academy. This enthralling event opened doors to the world of fashion, design, styling, and media, providing a platform for the students to explore their passions and unleash their artistic potential.
The workshop, held at the exquisite Pearl campus, was meticulously crafted to cater to the diverse interests of the students. Divided into two segments – Communication Design and Textile Design – the participants experienced hands-on activities and learned from experts in the respective fields.

Textile Design Workshop with Ms. Paridhi:
The Textile Design workshop was ingeniously conducted by Ms. Paridhi, a talented Textile Designer and Educator, hailing from the vibrant city of joy, Kolkata. Having graduated from Pearl Academy, New Delhi, in the year 2016, Paridhi went on to pursue her passion for textiles and landed a prestigious role as a Design Assistant at Vardhman Textiles in Himachal Pradesh.
One of the highlights of the workshop was Paridhi’s focus on sustainable technology in textile design. Her accolades as the Bursary Winner in the 91st Textile Institute World Conference 2018, for her Research Paper on Jute, showcased her expertise in integrating design with eco-friendly practices. Through interactive sessions and insightful discussions, Ms. Paridhi inspired the students to consider the environmental impact of their creative choices.

The workshop also provided a unique opportunity for the students to get hands-on with fabrics, dyes, and various textile designing tools. The budding artists learned about pattern making, fabric manipulation, and dyeing techniques, experiencing the thrill of transforming raw materials into stunning works of art.

Communication Design Workshop with Chewang Bhutia:
The Communication Design workshop was equally captivating, led by the immensely talented Chewang Bhutia, an Animation Film Designer. Chewang’s experience in Bombay as a motion graphic designer and his versatile roles as an Art Director and children’s book author and illustrator added an exciting dimension to the workshop.
Throughout the session, Chewang emphasized the power of visual storytelling in the field of communication design. He encouraged the students to think beyond the conventional and explore innovative ways to convey their ideas effectively. With interactive exercises and engaging activities, the students dived deep into the world of animation, graphic design, and multimedia, discovering new ways to communicate through visuals and graphics.

Chewang Bhutia’s expertise in animation brought a dynamic element to the workshop, as the students got a glimpse of the magic that unfolds behind the scenes in creating animated content. From ideation to execution, the workshop offered a comprehensive view of the process, inspiring the young minds to consider animation as a potent tool for creative expression.
The workshop at Pearl Academy left an indelible mark on the students of The Khaitan School. As they explored the realms of communication and textile design, they realized the vast array of opportunities that awaited them in the creative industries. The exposure to real-world experiences and the chance to interact with professionals like Ms. Paridhi and Chewang Bhutia ignited their passion for art and design further.

Mrs. Vandana Datta, HOD Arts, The Khaitan School, expressed her appreciation for the workshop, stating, “The students were thrilled to be a part of this enriching experience.
