Celebrating Courage, Resilience, and Leadership at The Khaitan School’s Third Conclave
The Khaitan School, a beacon of educational excellence, marked a significant milestone with its third Leadership Conclave, titled “The Grit Factor: Courage, Resilience and Leadership in the New World Order.” The event, held on the 18th of September 2023 in the school’s AV Room, illuminated the importance of these virtues in an ever-changing global landscape. Following the successful completion of the initial chapters of the Leadership Conclave, the school once again managed to captivate its audience with a compelling and inspiring lineup of speakers and discussions.

The theme of the conclave, “The Grit Factor,” embodies the qualities of courage, resilience, and leadership that are indispensable in the dynamic world we live in. After the triumph of the first two chapters of the Leadership Conclave, namely “Cusp: Into the Brave New World” and “The Inward Movement: The Trend of Reverse Globalisation and Self-sufficiency in the Twenty-First Century,” the third installment promised to be even more enlightening and thought-provoking.

The event witnessed an amalgamation of in-person and virtual experiences, as live streaming technology brought the insights of the conclave to the wider audience seated in the auditorium. The comperes for the event, Swara Mishra and Devaashnabh Hazarika, set the stage with a warm welcome, paving the way for the esteemed speakers.


Col Satyendra Verma: A Maverick’s Perspective
Col Satyendra Verma (retd), an army veteran and a Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Awardee, graced the conclave with his presence and insight. A true maverick, Col Verma leads an important Government initiative of Citizens Mobile Security while pursuing his passion as a skydiver instructor, BASE jumper, wingsuit pilot, entrepreneur, and motivational speaker. In his interaction with the audience, Col Verma emphasized the profound significance of grit, determination, and maintaining a calm mindset as key components of successful leadership. His pragmatic and directive approach to thinking stood as a beacon of inspiration for aspiring leaders.

Cdr GS Gill (Retd): Charting a Course of Courage
The second session of the Leadership Conclave was inaugurated by Cdr GS Gill (Retd), a 1971 War Veteran who exemplifies the essence of courage and dedication. Through a virtual flight over metaphorical rough seas, Cdr Gill invoked the spirit of ‘Josh hai’ (enthusiasm) and ‘Vande Mataram,’ rallying the audience around the importance of respect for seniors and parents, discipline, integrity, hard work, self-belief, and the recognition of an ultimate supreme power. The significance of his message was heightened by the introduction given by Vice Presidents Akshat Pandey and Pallavi Uppadyay, who highlighted Cdr Gill’s heroic deeds and his authorship of two books, “Industrial Security and Safety: A Challenge” and “Save Lives & Losses By Preventing Incidents.”

A Closing to Remember
The conclave reached its pinnacle with an engaging discussion session and a volley of questions from the enthusiastic attendees from classes XI and XII. The exchange of ideas and insights further enriched the experience, leaving a lasting impression on all participants.
