A special assembly on ‘Heritage Day’ was conducted by Shiwalik house on 29.4.19 with the motto of spreading the message that we Indians should have immense pleasure and feel extremely proud of our rich culture and past heritage. We should cherish and preserve our priceless and valuable traditions, monuments, culture which are our true identity to the world. The assembly began by seeking the blessings of the Almighty through morning prayer, followed by a beautiful thought by Tanishka of class 2B and News update by Tanvi Chauhan of class 5B. Naman Kaushik of class 5D delivered a talk on World Heritage Day, highlighting upon its history, relevance and importance. He also informed that this day is celebrated at a grand level with great enthusiasm throughout the world by conducting various activities like debates, seminars etc. To convey the message in a more realistic and effective manner, a skit on the ‘Importance of Cultural Heritage’ was presented which motivated the students to visit various Indian monuments which are symbols of our rich heritage, namely Taj Mahal, Sanchi Stupa etc., during their vacations and also to spread awareness and carry out cleanliness drives to preserve them. A mesmerizing dance performance by the boys and girls in graceful outfits was also presented on the concept of ‘Ganga- Our revered National Heritage’. The assembly was an amalgam of entertainment and information which truly spread the message to rejoice and appreciate our rich past. The Principal, Mrs. D. Kaur complimented the efforts put in by every student and also the contribution of teachers for this insightful assembly. She also motivated the students to realize the importance of the message conveyed to them and to take a pledge to preserve our culture and heritage. The program culminated by the rendition of the National Anthem.
