In a bid to contribute to the nationwide cleanliness initiative, “Swachh Bharat,” and to foster a culture of cleanliness and hygiene among students, The Khaitan School in NOIDA enthusiastically participated in the Swachhata Pakhwada campaign organized by CBSE. From September 1st to September 15th, 2023, the school embarked on a journey to create awareness and instill the importance of cleanliness and hygiene in the hearts and minds of its students.
Pledge for a Cleaner Tomorrow
The campaign kicked off with a resounding Swachhta Shapath (Cleanliness Oath) on the very first day. Students from Nursery to Class 5 joined hands and pledged to keep their environment clean and clutter-free. This solemn oath marked the beginning of a collective commitment to a cleaner and healthier tomorrow. Cleanliness and hygiene practices were meticulously outlined, ensuring that every student understood their significance in maintaining a clean and disease-free environment.
Educating Through Interaction
Students actively participated in various activities designed to educate them on cleanliness and hygiene. They engaged in discussions and provided feedback on how adhering to a cleanliness routine could lead to a healthy and joyful life. Moreover, they were sensitized about the importance of handwashing and sanitization in preventing the spread of infectious diseases, a vital lesson in today’s times.
The Art of Handwashing
One noteworthy activity during Swachhata Pakhwada was the Hand Wash activity, where students spent a minimum of 5 minutes learning the right method of handwashing. Teachers played a pivotal role in guiding them through the correct techniques. Emphasis was placed on using separate dustbins for dry and wet waste, promoting the concept of waste segregation, and emphasizing the role it plays in maintaining cleanliness.
Health and Hygiene as Priorities
The campaign also underscored the essential connection between maintaining a clean and healthy routine and overall well-being. The school authorities led by example, taking proactive steps to declutter their workspaces and school premises. The administrative department and housekeeping staff joined hands to deep clean and fog the entire school building, ensuring a pristine environment for the students. The significance of cleanliness and personal hygiene was communicated to everyone.
Swachata Ambassadors: The Guardians of Cleanliness
To ensure that the spirit of cleanliness is upheld in every classroom, Swachata Ambassadors were appointed in each class. These young leaders took on the responsibility of maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of their classrooms, setting an example for their peers.
