In an effort to inspire and encourage young students to explore the diverse world of commerce as a potential career choice, The Khaitan School, Noida organized a captivating event known as “Commerce Week” – COMMONICS-23. The week-long event, held from 17th to 20th July, was aimed at providing valuable insights into the realm of commerce, its subjects, and the plethora of career opportunities it offers.
The Commerce Week served as an excellent platform for students to gain comprehensive knowledge about commerce and its significance in the modern world. The event was carefully designed to foster student interest and curiosity while helping them make informed decisions about their academic and professional futures.

Throughout the week, participants from the commerce stream took on the role of presenters, confidently delivering their insights with the aid of PowerPoint presentations. This approach not only empowered the students but also instilled in them a sense of responsibility and leadership. Under the guidance of dedicated teachers of commerce, Ms. Rashmi Mehta, Mr. Aditya, and the invaluable assistance of Ms. Tanu Chhabra, Head of the Commerce Department, the students were well-prepared to deliver engaging sessions.

The Commerce Week commenced with an informative session aimed at providing students with a general understanding of commerce as a stream, including the subjects it encompasses and the wide-ranging career prospects available. This introductory session laid the foundation for the subsequent days, which delved deeper into specific aspects of commerce.

On Day 2, the spotlight was on Economics – a fundamental aspect of commerce. An Economics Symposium was organized, allowing economics students to explore various topics and discuss pressing economic issues that affect the world today. The students demonstrated their knowledge and understanding of scarcity, resource allocation, production of goods and services, growth, and welfare. The symposium also fostered healthy discussions, where students confidently answered questions from their peers and faculty members.

Day 3 witnessed a vibrant and creative event named “AD-MAD Show,” where the students engaged in an advertisement-based competition. Divided into six teams, the students had four minutes each to pitch their product or idea convincingly to a panel of judges. The competition was not only about creativity and innovation but also emphasized teamwork and coordination. The students had the opportunity to showcase their ideas with humor and ingenuity, making the event both entertaining and insightful. The judges, Mr. Rajneesh Bisht and Mr. Dheeraj Bhatia, evaluated the performances based on clarity of thought, innovation, creativity, humor, and team coordination.

The grand finale on Day 4 was “Shark Tank Khaitan,” an Inter-House Competition, inspired by the popular TV show “Shark Tank.” Here, the four houses of The Khaitan School competed with their unique and innovative business ideas, presenting their pitches to the esteemed panel of judges, Mr. Rajdeep and Ms. Mridula, who were alumni of the school from the 2021 batch. Each team had 15 minutes to impress the judges with their clarity of thought, innovation, creativity, and the overall presentation of their business ideas. The event not only nurtured the entrepreneurial spirit among the students but also provided them with a taste of real-world pitching.

The Commerce Week at The Khaitan School was a resounding success, with students gaining a broader perspective of commerce as a multidimensional and dynamic stream.
