Empowering Educators through Innovation Design Skills

 

On 18th July 2025, the Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI), Noida, in collaboration with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), conducted a one-day training session on Innovation Design Skill. The workshop brought together educators and professionals to deepen their understanding of innovative design thinking, with a strong emphasis on skill-based education.

Dr. Neha Dutt, School Counsellor (Senior Wing) from The Khaitan School, attended the workshop, gaining valuable insights into how design and innovation can be integrated into educational practices. The session began with an introduction to FDDI’s vision, academic excellence, and state-of-the-art infrastructure, setting the tone for a day focused on creativity and applied learning.

 

 

A spotlight was cast on the Department of Footwear Design and Production, a vital area contributing to India’s expanding design and manufacturing industry. Participants were also introduced to various other design disciplines offered at FDDI, including Fashion Design, Leather Goods and Accessories Design, and Retail and Fashion Merchandise.

A key highlight of the session was the dedicated segment on Innovation Design Skill, which delved into modern design thinking methodologies. Through practical, hands-on activities, participants were encouraged to apply these concepts to real-world challenges—fostering creativity, problem-solving, and out-of-the-box thinking.

 

Dr. Biswajit Saha, Skill Director at CBSE, addressed the gathering, underscoring the importance of integrating skill-based learning in schools. He emphasized that such initiatives equip students with the tools needed to navigate an ever-evolving global landscape.

The workshop concluded with a guided tour of the FDDI campus, where attendees explored cutting-edge labs, design studios, and resource centers. The visit provided a first-hand look at the institute’s innovative environment and its contributions to the future of design education.
