On the 25th and 26th of March 2025, the Centre for Career Development at The Khaitan School organized a highly informative workshop for Class XII students, focusing on Profile Building and Identifying Value-for-Money Countries for Higher Education Abroad. The workshop was led by career experts Ms. Bhawini and Ms. Sejal, who shared their deep insights into the evolving landscape of global education and strategic career planning.

Building a Well-Rounded Profile
Ms. Bhawini opened the session by underlining the importance of building a holistic and well-rounded profile during school years. She emphasized that international universities are increasingly looking beyond academic scores. While a strong academic foundation is crucial, institutions are keen to admit students who display leadership, creativity, initiative, and a deep commitment to their interests and communities.
She encouraged students to actively engage in extracurricular pursuits like sports, music, and volunteering—activities that reflect personal initiative and passion. The session also highlighted the growing importance of standardized tests such as the SAT, ACT, and GRE, and how good scores can enhance a student’s profile.
In addition, Ms. Bhawini shed light on the value of practical experiences like internships and part-time jobs, which not only build skills but also demonstrate real-world readiness. She guided students on crafting impactful resumes, writing compelling Statements of Purpose (SOPs), and obtaining strong letters of recommendation—all key elements in a successful college application.

Smart Choices: Value-for-Money Destinations Abroad
On the second day, Ms. Sejal provided a detailed analysis of cost-effective study destinations that offer quality education and excellent career prospects. She urged students to weigh not just tuition fees but also living expenses, availability of scholarships, and post-graduation work opportunities while making decisions about studying abroad.
Key Destinations Discussed:
Germany: Known for its world-class engineering and technology programs, Germany offers free or low-cost education at public universities.
Canada: Offers a wide array of scholarships, affordable tuition, and excellent post-study work options.
Australia: Provides a broad spectrum of programs, supportive visa policies, and vibrant campus life.
Singapore: Recognized for its academic excellence, affordability, and dynamic student environment.
Ireland: Emerging as a preferred destination for tech and business studies, with strong job placement opportunities.

Ms. Sejal also discussed the importance of understanding post-study work visa policies and how some countries offer longer work visas and even pathways to permanent residency—an essential factor for students seeking long-term career growth abroad.

A Holistic Approach to Career Planning
Throughout the two-day workshop, students were equipped with practical tools and strategies to make informed decisions about their future. The session underscored that profile building is not a one-time task but an ongoing process that blends academic diligence, skill development, and strategic planning.
The workshop concluded with an engaging Q&A session, where students enthusiastically interacted with the speakers, seeking clarity and advice on their aspirations. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with students leaving empowered and better informed about their higher education journeys.
By facilitating such enriching experiences, The Khaitan School continues to guide its students toward brighter, globally connected futures.
