“All labour that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence.” — Martin Luther King Jr.
In keeping with its tradition of instilling values of respect, empathy, and social consciousness, The Khaitan School solemnly observed Labour Day on May 1, 2025, through a thoughtfully curated celebration, led by the School’s Student Council. The event served as a tribute to the often-unsung heroes of the institution—the ground staff and support personnel—whose unwavering dedication forms the very bedrock of the school’s everyday functioning.

The programme commenced with a stirring musical rendition by the school choir, echoing the theme of “togetherness to sail through.” The harmonies resonated across the auditorium, awakening a sense of unity and collective responsibility in the audience. The song was a moving reminder that progress is not the product of isolated excellence, but rather the result of collective effort.

Following this, the stage came alive with an evocative classical dance ballet, performed by the students. Through graceful movements and poignant expressions, the performance beautifully encapsulated the values of perseverance, commitment, and the silent strength inherent in honest labour. The audience was visibly moved by the emotional depth and artistry displayed.
In a symbolic gesture intended to immortalize the contribution of the school’s support staff, handprints of the ground workers were taken and preserved as part of a commemorative installation. This initiative marks a significant step towards embedding their legacy within the school’s institutional memory, ensuring that their service is honoured not only in spirit but in tangible form.

Furthering this gesture of appreciation, each member of the ground staff was presented with a multipurpose tiffin box—a thoughtful and functional token of gratitude. This act, though simple, carried profound meaning, reinforcing the school’s commitment to recognising every contribution, however humble, with respect and dignity.
The celebration culminated with a heartfelt address by the Principal, Mr. Sajeev Phillip, who lauded the integrity and tireless commitment of the support staff. He urged students to carry forward the values of humility and gratitude in their own lives, reminding them that character is best measured not by achievement, but by the ability to honour the dignity of all work.

In essence, the Labour Day celebration at The Khaitan School was far more than an event—it was a reaffirmation of the school’s ethos. It stood as a powerful reminder that every individual, regardless of role or recognition, contributes to the fabric of a thriving community.
