On September 4, 2024, the Middle School at The Khaitan School conducted a vibrant and intellectually stimulating Inter-House Hindi Debate Competition for students from Classes 6 to 8. Held in the school’s AV room, the event was designed to enhance critical thinking, public speaking skills, teamwork, and a deeper understanding of socio-economic issues among the students.
The central theme of the debate was “बढ़ती बौद्धिक क्षमता: घटते नैतिक मूल्य,” which translates to “Increasing Intellectual Ability Decreases Moral Values.” This thought-provoking topic provided a platform for students to explore and discuss the complex interplay between intellectual development and moral values
The competition saw enthusiastic participation from all four houses: Aravali, Meghalaya, Nilgiri, and Shiwalik. Each house was represented by two members—one advocating for the motion and the other opposing it. The debaters showcased impressive research, confidence, and eloquence, presenting well-rounded arguments and engaging in spirited exchanges.
The event was honored by the presence of several distinguished guests. Mr. Sachin Sharma, Head of Middle School (HOMS), and Ms. Preeti Gambhir, Curriculum Coordinator, graced the occasion with their presence. The panel of judges included Ms. Usha Malik, Head of the Hindi Department, and Mr. Vikas from the senior wing, both of whom brought extensive knowledge and experience in Hindi teaching to the competition. Their expertise and guidance added significant value to the proceedings.
Aravali House emerged victorious, clinching the first position in the debate. The house’s performance was particularly notable, with a member also being awarded the title of Best Speaker. Additionally, the anchors of the event received special recognition from the judges for their outstanding contributions, enhancing the overall quality of the competition.
The debate competition was met with enthusiastic applause from the audience, who enjoyed the stimulating discussions and the opportunity to witness the students’ exceptional debating skills. The event not only highlighted the students’ abilities but also fostered a greater appreciation for critical thinking and public speaking within the school community.
