On the 14th of August 2024, The Khaitan School Noida hosted the SCIENTO FABIO QUIZ, an inter-house science quiz competition, in the AV Room. This intellectually stimulating event was held in an offline mode and spanned a duration of 60 minutes. It aimed to ignite the spirit of scientific inquiry, foster analytical thinking, and provide a platform for young, budding scientists to exchange ideas and knowledge. The event was graced by the presence of esteemed alumni, Ananya Gupta and Arpit Jain, both of whom are graduates of IIT Delhi’s Electrical Branch. The event was meticulously organized under the guidance of Ms. Sheetal Ghai, with overall coordination managed by Ms. Mamta Priyadarshini and Ms. Ghai.
Concept and Objectives
The SCIENTO FABIO QUIZ was designed with a clear aim: to cultivate a scientific mindset among students, encourage analytical thinking, and promote healthy peer learning. By engaging in this competition, students were provided with a unique opportunity to apply their knowledge in a fun and stress-free environment. The key concept behind the quiz was to improve concentration, identify knowledge gaps, boost confidence, and help students retain information more effectively. In a world where competition is fierce, such quizzes offer a harmonious way of interacting, learning, and growing together.
The Quiz Format
The quiz was conducted by a Quiz Master who posed challenging and thought-provoking questions to the participants. Each house was represented by a team of four participants, one from each class (IX to XII). The competition was structured into four main rounds:
Inventors & Discoveries: This round tested the participants’ knowledge of groundbreaking inventions and the scientists behind them.
Conceptual Topics: In this round, students were challenged to apply their understanding of complex scientific concepts to answer the questions.
Visual Quest Round: A visually engaging round where participants were asked to identify scientific phenomena, tools, or discoveries from images.
Rapid Fire: The final round tested the quick thinking and reflexes of the participants as they answered a series of questions in rapid succession.
In addition to the main rounds, filler rounds were introduced after each segment, where questions were posed to the audience. This not only kept the audience engaged but also provided an opportunity for non-participating students to showcase their knowledge. The enthusiastic responses from the audience were a testament to the quiz’s success.
Guest Interaction and Outcomes
The alumni guests, Ananya Gupta and Arpit Jain, were highly impressed with the quality of the questions and the level of knowledge displayed by the participants. They addressed the students at the end of the event, sharing motivational insights from their own academic journeys and encouraging the young minds to continue pursuing excellence in the field of science.
As the quiz drew to a close, the scores were tallied, and the team with the highest points was declared the winner. The event was a resounding success, fulfilling its objectives of fostering a scientific approach, promoting peer learning, and enhancing the students’ knowledge base.
The SCIENTO FABIO QUIZ was more than just a competition; it was a celebration of curiosity, learning, and the relentless pursuit of knowledge.
