On August 28, 2024, The Khaitan School organized an insightful workshop on screen addiction for Class X students, led by Mr. Avinashi Sharan, a seasoned career and corporate trainer from Career Launcher. The workshop addressed the growing concern of screen addiction, emphasizing its impact on students’ daily lives, academic performance, and social relationships.
Mr. Sharan began the session by discussing the various forms of electronic devices, including smartphones, tablets, computers, and televisions, which have become integral to modern life. He explained how the compulsive need to use these devices, despite the negative consequences, can lead to screen addiction—a growing issue among young people.

The workshop highlighted the physical effects of excessive screen time, such as eye strain, sleep disturbances, and a sedentary lifestyle, all of which can have long-term health implications. Mr. Sharan sensitized the students to the importance of balancing and monitoring their screen time, encouraging them to be mindful of their device usage.
In an effort to help students reduce their dependence on technology, Mr. Sharan suggested exploring new hobbies and interests that do not involve screens. He also emphasized the value of engaging in face-to-face social interactions, which can serve as a healthier alternative to communicating through smartphones and social media.

The workshop concluded with a call to action for students to take proactive steps in managing their screen time, fostering a more balanced and healthy lifestyle. The Khaitan School’s initiative to address this critical issue reflects its commitment to the well-being and holistic development of its students.
